Chako Zanzibar

HILIKI – Set of 2 – Clear

Hiliki in Swahill is a cardamom plant. When it is ripe, the flower opens to reveal the cardamom seads. The shape of the cardamom flower is skillfully handcarved on the wooden tops of these jars.

Each set includes upcycled glass jars, topped with a traditionally carved wooden lid and sealed with an airtight, food-grade silicone ring.

Available in a set of two transparent glass.
The jars come packaged in a CHAKO gift box.

Materials:
Recycled wine bottles, Mninga wood, and food-grade silicone.

We craft each jar from one of the over two million glass bottles we collect in Zanzibar every year.

Female empowerment

We believe in gender equality and female empowerment. 60% of the Chako artisans are female. Furthermore we focus on unemployed youth and create knowledge.

Upcycled

This product is made out of one bottle from the more than 2 million bottles we collect in one year in Zanzibar.
